He works to spread education and awareness on issues surrounding mental health and substance abuse as well as help families navigate the difficult waters of getting a loved one help. Howard has spent the past 8 years working with young adults and their families, being a support during times of crisis. In the early 1990s, many families of teenagers and young men approached Review Granada House to help address their son’s addictions. At the time, long-term, sober living resident services for teens and young men in Los Angeles were unavailable. Soon after admitting the younger people, certain things became apparent. The Review Review Granada House disparity in their emotional ages, social skills, and life experiences was significant enough to require different approaches for each group of men for sobriety.
He is from Las Vegas and enjoys having fun in sobriety, spending time with his community, and staying active. He says that going through New Life taught him to adopt responsibility and value his relationships, and he wishes to help others with doing the same. Dominic is the Manager at New Life West, and is a graduate of Review Granada House himself. Our son entered the New Life Program at Miracle House fifteen months ago at the age of 35.
He was an active alcoholic who had no idea how to navigate his way through life as an adult without using alcohol to distract him. Throughout his months at new life, he slowly learned how to love himself, to gain confidence and to truly learn what it means to be at peace. Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of ups and downs and trials and tribulations on both our parts. I spent many a late night dealing with anxiety and endless worry, but i knew every day that he was safe and he was learning to confront his demons and come out the other side. I have so many people to thank, the guys in charge of my son who have become my family and geoffrey’s family as well. Max, howard, dillon, sebastian…..the very best and most amazing people you will ever meet.
The ongoing relationship with the program is what keeps them sober long term. We knew right away that our son was going to the right place when everyone I talked to was either alumni of the program or a parent of the alumni. He has worked in nearly all roles of residential treatment including primary counselor, case manager, admissions director, business development, clinical director and executive director. We take pride in providing a comfortable, safe and nurturing environment to heal and transform. Take a tour of the best sober living homes in Los Angeles today and feel the difference.
